BCREA advances REALTOR® professionalism by working in collaboration with the province’s real estate boards and associations. Learn more about us!
BCREA is the professional association for more than 26,000 commercial and residential REALTORS® in BC. Our mission is to empower the province’s real estate boards and associations by sharing our expertise and providing professional development opportunities, advocacy, economic research, and standard forms so REALTORS® are trusted, respected, and proud of their profession.
REALTORS® helped their clients sell 73,109 homes on the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) in 2023, a 9.2 per cent decline from 2022. Consumers invested roughly $71 billion in residential real estate across BC in 2023, down 11.5 per cent compared to 2022. The average MLS® residential price in 2022 was $971,144, down 2.6 per cent from 2022.
REALTORS® are real estate licensees who have committed to a higher standard of professionalism by joining the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA). As members, REALTORS® can use the “REALTOR®” trademark and must abide by the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and pursue ongoing professional education. As members of CREA, REALTORS® are also members of BCREA and their regional real estate board or association. REALTORS® are trusted advisors who help consumers make some of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.
Together, CREA, BCREA and the regional real estate boards and associations form what is known as “organized real estate.” These organizations work at the national, provincial, and municipal levels to represent the interests of their members.
All real estate licensees must be licensed by the province through the British Columbia Financial Services Authority, as legislated by the Real Estate Services Act.
