Managing Brokers Advisory Committee

The Managing Broker Advisory Committee identifies opportunities to enhance REALTOR® professionalism and support managing brokers.

Bridging the Gap

BCREA recognizes the crucial role managing brokers hold in BC real estate transactions and in supporting licensees in the profession. Managing brokers wear many hats, from supervisor and office administrator to mentor and advisor. Under the Real Estate Services Act (RESA), managing brokers are responsible for all licensing activities and maintaining an adequate supervision of the REALTORS® representing the brokerage.

BCREA saw there was a gap in services that support managing brokers in finding resources and answers. Ongoing regulatory changes to real estate and RESA have made the role of the managing broker more difficult than ever before. BCREA’s strategic plan was built collaboratively with the member boards and associations, and one of the key objectives identified was offering more supports for managing brokers across a wide area of practice.

BCREA created the Managing Broker Advisory Committee (MBAC) to identify those opportunities that enhance REALTOR® professionalism and support managing brokers. The committee comprises of a diverse group of managing brokers from across the province. It provides insights and practical expertise on timely topics and feedback that helps inform BCREA’s actions in supporting member boards and associations, managing brokers, REALTORS®, and the real estate profession.

The mandate of the MBAC is to provide BCREA and stakeholders with timely practice-related insights and feedback to help inform BCREA’s actions.

The MBAC discusses issues related to:

  • Community of Practice, Professional Development, Standard Forms, Advocacy, and Communications.
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance REALTOR® professionalism.
  • Identifies opportunities to support managing brokers.
  • Discusses and exchanges information, and shares perspectives about the real estate profession and future trends.
  • Provide insights and practical expertise on topics as requested by BCREA.
